Myself I use a free program called "stalled printer repair". Google for it. Its sole use is to delete printing jobs stuck in the spooler queue. It works in windows 7. Not sure if it works for windows 8 as well.

Stop the service and empty the queue, as follows:

Press the Windows Logo key+X (or right-click or press and hold off the bottom left corner) and choose Command Prompt (Admin). Now type these commands, which are in capitals for clarity only:

NET STOP SPOOLER and press Enter
DEL %SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\PRINTERS\*.* and press Enter
NET START SPOOLER and press Enter
EXIT and press Enter

I would have simply recommended turning off the computer and the printer at the same time. Sometimes it is needed to unplug the printer to make all 'forget' the already deleted document.
If you no longer see your printer(s), the best is simply reinstall the printer (add printer).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
