daub out of range installing new os, on new hdd

March 12, 2015 at 03:05:33
Specs: Windows 8.1
I recently got a fresh 1tb hdd from best buy, and I'm trying to install windows 8.1 to it. I boot to UEFI usb, the blue windows symbol appears and loading dots, but once it loads my monitor says "dsub out of range" I read other posts on this 'out of range' topic, but everyone mentions booting in safe mode, Without an active os on the hdd, I can't boot in safe mode haha. I have Linux mint running fine on another hdd.

Try/borrow another monitor to test.

It's odd you're getting that during a windows install as the resolution should be something basic that any monitor can handle. Can you change the moinitor's default or native resolution with its OSD options?

If not, as already mentioned, use another monitor to do the install.
