Dear Folks,

Is your computer a Lenovo?
It seems it is for their energy management - see here:
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo...
Note that the link is for a G560 64 bit which might or might not be what you have. Let us know your computer make and model number please.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Brand/model or motherboard brand/model?

You get drivers from the manufacturer of your computer unless it is home built. Most likely there is a new driver for Win 8.1 but without the make and model number we can't say much more.

Usually drivers are on the system manufacture's site under Support>Downloads>Drivers, then you usually need to enter your full model number and select your operating system. Once you find it, download it and install it.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Go here and select "Show All" at the bottom:
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/pro...

You will need to select an audio driver which matches whether you are running 32 bit or 64 bit. Check in Control Panel > Device Manager > "sound, video and game controllers" to see which sound device brand is installed.

Re #8:
"The problem is gone "
Did I just go away on its own or did you do something?

If you can't identify the unknown device (see #9) right click and Uninstall it from Device Manager [DO NOT uninstall "Software" if asked], then restart computer. This simply disassociates the software from the device, so it should "find new hardware" and setup the software again after restarting.

I uninstalled it from the device manager, but it pops back again in the device manager after rebooting.
Whenever I click unknown device click details
property shows
Device instance path
Value shows
ACPI\VPC2004\0
When I select hardware id from property,
it shows value
ACPI\VEN_VPC&DEV_2004
ACPI\VPC2004
VPC2004
