Specs: Windows 8.1 64 bits, AMD Quad-Core A8-5500 3.2GHz/ 6gb 1600MHZ
I asked elsewhere but no response since yesterday and nothing seems to have worked so far. asus crashed. black screen or sometimes now mentions another error messaged. Have recovery cd. but auto repair doesnt work says drive is locked. receovery gives another error messages. Reset gives a required drive partition is missing.

tried several things such as lazesoft but it couldnt complete as it says drive is locked. but it read my files. I copied mydocuments that were crisis the rest at this point I dont give a damn.would rather keep my job the videos!
tried several cmd commands (diskpath, ckdisk,(which does mention no error ) and bootrec too.
Folllowed some info on link that I was provided with no luck too:
Was told to also try asus bactraker. its downloaded (on my xp laptop)but I cant make it work on cd on asus. I got the files. burned them on cd and nothing happens. nowhere on internet it mentions how to make it work on cd.
Using an old xp laptop which is very capricious. I check everyhour but no help since almost 24hours so trying as title and now problem seems boviously hard drive is lock.
I did unplug hard drive and waited a bit, did a swap with my old xp (computer read it but asked for instalation cd which as it isxp i do not have 8.1(thought it would install by itself but nope.

helop help help, need to have access asap, refersh to factory I dont give a damn I just need it to work.

IF it is hard drive, why when I changed it it didnt work automatically installing W8. I need pronto a computer in working mode at least for my work software. not working since tuesday now. and tried tons of things. would love to try asus bactracker bt dunno how to make it work via cd

You could also do the same and install Windows 10 directly with the download/burn DVD if you like. I have used Windows 8.1 and 10 and prefer 10 over 8.1 by a long margin (though Windows 7 is still my preferred when I have the choice, at least for now).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

"no response since yesterday"
That's because the site is worked by volunteers so it's a matter of when they log in and what posts they tackle.

As you have "multiple posted" on the same topic then one or more are likely to be zapped. This means that folk will not want to risk wasting much of their spare time.

F9 brings me to same page(blue) then the recovery cds.
so choose language then choose troubleshoot then options.

NO Highlight Windows Setup [EMS Enabled] and press <Enter> is seen.

just installed UBUNTU so now can respond faster. so right now using computer on Ubuntu...so its a windows problem for sure not my Hard drive.

so recovey cd doesnt work tells me either that partition drive is missing(if I choose reset) or that it is locked(if I choose auto repair) so I need to unlock I guess to be able to fix this?

I guess I could try the backtracker software VIA ubuntu( I have it on cd so I could install on ubuntu)? is that feasable and if so...should I delete ubuntu or can I or should I?

Why would you install Ubuntu when you can run it directly from the disc? Did you lose your Windows installation in the process?

did not get an option to run as cd or no one told me how to run it like that or what to do. I did get a message to see if it would ran sooooooo it ran and installed. When asked I did not removed Windows. and when offered I chose the smallest allocated amount (45gb) for ubuntu. Now I see in ubuntu that my c and d drive is there with files on them. so obviously still there (but some might be damaged, Itried to open some things and it wouldnt...)

While you are in Ubuntu:
First save your important data files on a flash drive or CD/DVD:
Open the CD/DVD creator in Ubuntu (apps > tools or accessories)
Drop the data files to save. Burn the CD/DVD

Next, since your recovery disk is useless I suggest to download a copy of the Windows OS 8.1 you want to install:
I assume you have the license key at hand?? Somewhere on your PC or in a manual document?

open a browser in Ubuntu and Download a copy of win 8.1 32 or 64 bit version:
http://pcriver.com/operating-system...

Open the CD/DVD creator in Ubuntu (apps > tools or accessories)
Drop the ISO file and write the ISO file.

And stop PANICKING!

The safest and fastest in your case would be a complete clean reinstall of Windows as long as you have saved your personal stuff already on an external drive or DVD's.
