What do you mean by 'my computer cannot find chrome.' What exact error message did you receive? I'm assuming this means the shortcut you were using cannot find the .exe file. Right-click anywhere on the desktop. Select Create > New Shortcut. When it prompts you to enter the location of the application, click browse. Under Program Files x86 (although it might just be under Program Files) find a folder labeled Google. Open it, then go to Chrome > Application. Select the application labeled Chrome.

Most likely the shortcut just became corrupt. If you cannot find chrome in the application folder, it is possible it was moved to a different location. Look through all of the folders in the Google directory, and see if you find chrome. You will have to move Chrome back to the application folder or else it probably will not work correctly.

It is also possible that Chrome was uninstalled for some reason. You can try seeing if it is installed by going to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features and seeing if Chrome is listed. If not, you can download it here:

If it was installed but you can't find the application, try running a search for it.

If chrome was uninstalled or moved, this was most likely due to malware. Try downloading this and running a scan:

Thank you very much. I am struggling with Windows 8, but when I did a search for "everything" it could not find chrome.exe. You are right that the shortcut was not able to find the file, but neither could I. I finally just downloaded it. As you suggested, I will run a full scan now! Again, thanks.
