Solved changed OS from 7 to 8.1, will the PC start faster?

October 11, 2014 at 02:22:21
Specs: Windows XP
my computer is running windows 7 and it takes about 1minute to bring me to the desktop. I heard that windows 8.1 can start up within 20 seconds. Will the startup time be shorter if I change my OS from windows 7 to windows 8.1?

Everything rests on the spec for your computer. One of Windows 8 features is that it keeps start up information so that it boots faster. You first install Windows 8 then go to the "Store" from the new Start Screen to get Windows 8.1. If it will run Win 8 it should be fine on 8.1. Further updates are from Windows Update as usual.

Bear in mind that if you computer spec is not good enough then it could even slow down further. Let us have the information and see also this:

Bear in mind that you need to be way over the minimum spec or the computer will crawl.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
