Specs: Windows 8
I have just purchased Norton on a CD-rom but my new laptop has come and does not include a disc drive. How can I install Norton without having to purchase another copy of Norton online?

Your new laptop is actually a "NetBook" to give it it's proper name, and netbooks don't have an optical drive owing to lack of space.

You can buy (or maybe borrow) an external optical drive that plugs into a USB port. Like one of these:

They cost a lot less than a downloadable copy of Norton, and if you order from Amazon you'll get it in a two or three working days.

Don't open the package! Return that crapware from wherever you bought it & get your money back. Windows 8 has built in AV software called Windows Defender. It's an improved version of Microsoft Security Essentials.

Most of the new 'ultra-books' don't come with disk drives either and they are far more powerful than the humble netbooks.

Anyway, you don't need to go to the expense of buying a new copy or buying/borrowing an external drive. You can download the version you have the key for from the following link:

then just use the key from within the box to activate it. The actual installation will take under a minute, and if you are planning to do any on-line banking or other financial stuff, will give you far better security than any free product.
