Hi there,

I have a Dell XPS 8700 computer and it has a program called "Dell Backup and Recovery" which I *do* use once every two months, but a recent update has caused it to place this annoying system tray icon in the corner.

I cannot, for the life of me, get rid of it! Yes, I've tried all the usual: "Customize" --> "Hide icon and notifications" ... nope, doesn't hide the icon.

I've tried going into the program itself but there is no setting to hide the icon.

I've tried right-clicking the icon but there is no option to hide the icon.

There MUST be some really easy RegEdit hack out there, that one of you guys knows, or just a simple program, to permanently hide this irritant?!

Thanks, guys!

Mark

Also a quick search brought up this batch file script you can try.

Please be aware of the implications of running batch files. For me I would create a restore point first so the changes can be reverted if need be.

Also reading the users responses one person indicated that it can be disabled in msconfig. Even easier still if that's the case.

Install CCleaner-Slim (you should have it anyway). Click on Tools > Startup, then disable or delete what you don't want loading.
