Cannot get to my BIOS menu to save my life

October 5, 2014 at 00:36:00
Specs: Windows 8.1, Intel i3, 8GB
Windows 8.1 (64 bit)
AMD Radeon 6700 series GPU
-other than that just a HP desktop you buy at bestbuy.

I have tried many suggestions on this site and others and cannot get to that darn BIOS menu.

First, I tried going to PC Settings > Update and Recovery > Recovery > Advanced Start-up > Troubleshooting > Advanced Options > UEFI Firmware Settings. Taking this route begins to restart my computer but when it restarts, it beeps 6 times and the display never comes on. I wait it out and eventually have to manually restart my computer, which gives me a normal restart in lieu of the UEFI Firmware Boot or BIOS Menu. ---- I believe when I click the UEFI Firmware Boot button in Windows 8 it tries to boot from my integrated graphics card, I don't know what action to take from here.

I have also tried other things like:
-Removing Fast Boot from the Power Settings
-Resetting the BIOS by removing the power cable and then removing the battery for a couple of minutes.

I have been at this for 5 hours now, hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks

Accessing the BIOS isn't so much CPU, GPU or PSU specific. Instead it belongs to the BIOS manufacturer that would be included with the motherboard.

If you run SIW (freeware):

It will give you the motherboard details and the BIOS, BIOS version. From there you should be able to asertain the required method to access the BIOS successfully.

Post the motherboard and BIOS (version) details and we should be able to help you gain access.

Toggle f1 or f10 during boot.

When the computer is starting up does it mention Setup on the screen anywhere (which is BIOS)? This usually says what keys are needed.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

"other than that just a HP desktop you buy at bestbuy"

The model/model number of your HP is what we need to know, the other info is useless. Apparently it's a fairly new PC so all you need to do is press the proper keys at the proper time during bootup. That being said, what is it you want to do within the BIOS?
