Cannot exit safe mode in windows 8.

Specs: Windows 8
Problems started with update from 8 to 8.1. Corrupted user profile I can not manage to replace. Now I cannot access a start menu that allows me to type in msconfig and get out of Safe Mode.. Is there a command prompt that will allow me to exit safe mode?

See More: Cannot exit safe mode in windows 8.

If you shut off the unit does it just boot back into safe mode? At what point did the user profile get corrupted before, during or after the update? Shut off the unit, (push and hold in the power button until it shuts off, about 5 seconds). Restart and if it goes into safe mode automatically or gives a profile error, what does it do from off to where you are stuck?

To err is human but to really screw things up, you need a computer!

The Windows Key + R should produce the Run box. From there you can type msconfig and hit Enter key if that it where you wish to go.

The method of getting into Safe Mode in Windows 8 is different from previous operating systems, as already given. However it seems your difficulty is "getting out of Safe Mode". Normally a simple restart should do this.

As a longer shot discharging the motherboard can "sometimes" help when a computer get stuck in a particular mode. Turn off the computer, remove the domestic power (and main battery if it is a laptop). Finally hold the power off/on button down for about 20 seconds. Re-assemble and see if it has helped.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
