Please post your complete system specs. If you have a custom built PC, we would need the make/model of the CPU, motherboard, memory, graphics card, HDD, etc. If it's a retail PC (Acer, Dell, HP, etc), please post the make/model & we can look up the specs.

All I can tell you based on your question is that to run a 64-bit OS, you should have a minimum of 4GB RAM.

Yea, more RAM today is worth the bother and the money, if not, then don't bother switching to 64bit. 4GB with 64bit is about the same as 3GB with 32bit since the 64bit OS uses more of it from the start. For these reasons and experience, today, I feel that 8GB is really a starting point for RAM and for memory hungry programs (Photoshop, AutoCad, video conversion, serious number crunching, etc), even more can be very useful.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
