Can I use a Windows 7 Restore disc on a Windows 8 system ?

Specs: Windows 8
I backed up my photos and documents on my Windows 7 pc and I want to restore it to my new Windows 8 pc

It depends on how the backup was done. If it was a manual backup made by copying your files onto a disk then you just reverse the process on the new machine. If you used Windows Easy Transfer then you need to make sure it is installed on the Win8 machine, run it and follow the prompts. If you used a 3rd party program - Norton, Acronis or whatever, then you need to install the software on the new machine and run the 'restore' part of the software.

As rightly suggested by "johnr", it depends which program you used to backup the content.

If you are not sure about the program, let us know the format of the backup or provide a screen shot of the content in the disk.
