Need audible sound for new emails on hotmail using Windows 8
I get a signal when AOL receives a new message. With my Hotmail (Outlook.com) program, I never receive a signal and have found no way in Settings to configure it.
Maybe it is not possible with that program but you would think that Microsoft would have some instruction on it or at least tell you it is not available.

I am using Outlook 2013 and under File > Option > Mail
there should be a section with is called "Message Arrival" under there you have the option to play a sound when a new message arrives.

You could also write a macro at the back of Outlook to play a custom sound when a new email is received, if you want to know more about this - if the first option isnt available or not sufficient i can write some code for you.

Thank you for your reply but you refer to Outlook and I have Outlook.com which is not the same thing. I do appreciate your answering my question anyway.

From what I read, sound is not available on outlook.com.

Thank you for that reply. That is what I have found in my searches but since I trust Tom's Guide, I thought I may have missed something.
Thank you again.

Your response is outdated. It takes you to places I already tried and to Windows Essentials which is already out of date. Thanks for trying anyway.

If you use the Windows 8 mail app to harvest your hotmail (and others too) emails I believe you can set up audible notifications.
