Boots up to blue screen NOT BSOD

September 23, 2014 at 21:43:04
Specs: Windows 8.1, 16 GIGS
I was surfing on the internet when all of the sudden a web site popped up saying my computer has been severely damaged and to call this 800 number. Not thinking I didn't copy the page and went to my task manager and killed the internet explorer. Now my pc boots to a totally blue screen. Can't get not safe mode, F12 .... Nothing except a blue screen. If I take my CMOS battery out will that help! I find it hard to believe I gave a bad video card or motherboard since it was running fine until that web site I can see my mouse nothing more
Thanks

Thanks for all your help

Seems you were attacked by a Trojan or malware.
If you open the task manager can you find in the process tab under processes column "explorer"?
If not try starting the desktop from menu File > New task > enter "explorer" > Ok
Any errors?

There might still be something lurking. As a minimum I would now run MalwareBytes on it and ADWCleaner (both freebies). Those two often find and fix things that your antivirus can miss.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Good to hear that it is up and running again but I agree with Derek, run additional scans as recommended and let us know how it goes.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
