acer aspire factory restore

Specs: Linux
I just bought a used Acer Aspire V5 122P 0889. I installed google chrome restarted my acer. It signs me in then screen stays blank, you can see the mouse pointer move but that is all. I can bring up system diagnostics screen by pressing ctl alt del buttons. Why did it do this and how can I fix it without doing another master reset

mmm Can you manage to get into safe-mode? If so can you also access Restore Points (the windows restore points NOT the actual factory restore/reset) and go back to a date/time prior to installing Chrome?

"without doing another master reset"
Does this mean that you have already done a factory restore - if so why was this?
The reason I'm asking is in case there is some link between the two problems - perhaps some issue with the hardware.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

The reason I master reset it it was a VDay present and got it used and I wanted it to be mine.
I ended up goin through all F keys by powering it off, I think it gave me an option that worked.

Not sure what a Vday present is (possibly a Bday present, as in Bithday present)?

Regardless you appear to have managed to do achieve the factory restore sucessfully?

You might find it useful (wise) to make your own set of recovery disks at this time. Most Acers have the nevessary utility included to enable that. Often a useful alternative to the restore partition - especially if the hard drive should fail, and thus with a replacement drive you will have no restore partition.

Also locate/download the user manual(s)for your Acer; always useful to have...

And thank you updating us thus far.
