Computer fails to boot. 5 partitions all GPT style.
How can I use recovery partition to reinstate the factory condition.
No CD or dvd - nothing happens on booting.

Thank you

You say: "computer fails to boot"...

A little general/vague as an opening comment? Perhaps a few more details would help here? Does it actually start the boot process; if so any error messages or "other clues"?

Model number would be useful to know too if pholks are to help you...

Also if there's "anything" on the system as is that you would like to preserve (personal files, music, videos, photos etc...) then consider how to recover those first - "before" you go into any factory reset/restore routines. Factory reset "will wipe ALL your personal files..." in the process.

Download and burn to a DVD an ISO for Ubuntu (a popular such Linux variant).

ubuntu.com.

Boot up with the DVD.

It will load itself into the installed RAM only; it will not touch or install to the hard drive. It will run from RAM and will be a little slower than an actual fully installed OS, but it will run OK - if it boots up OK.

If the system boots up OK from the Ubuntu DVD you may then be able find/access the hard drive and copy all your personal stuff to external storage - typically DVD.

Once you have done that - and checked the copies are OK (accessible on at least one normally working system), proceed to resolve you main problem...

Even Aspire computers can be different to each other. We need the model number.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
