Acer aspire es1-131 keyboard working intermittently

June 30, 2019 at 10:35:27
Specs: windows 8, Celeron dual core
The keyboard on the Acer netbook works perfectly sometimes. Other times not a single key works. A restart often gets it working but not evey time. I have tried switching the motherboard as I have a donor machine which is the same model. The problem is exactly the same with the motherboard installed in that one. I suspect a software operating system problem. I wonder if I am on the right track .

I'd be inclined to consider it's the keyboard itself...?

Can you plug in an external (sub) keyboard and see if the works OK?

I’m presuming there is a ribbon or similar link between the keyboard and motherboard; similarly the touchpad?

Is that OK?

Also have you installed chipset drivers the motherboard?
