6-months old custom-built Computer now hangs and freezes

March 4, 2016 at 10:06:17
Specs: Windows 8.1
Hello for the past month or so i've been getting this random black screen, No matter what i will be doing at RANDOM my computer screen would go black, Freeze, I'd hear a buzzing sound and be forced to manually turn off my computer. I've done multiple things to try and fix this, I reinstalled windows, Reset my bios to default, Made it to where it was like a brand new computer! No crashes for the first 3 days, 4th day it came back. After that i updated ALL drivers, My bios still. Last night i ran memtest got 0 errors, I am really hoping it ISNT MY mobo but i dont know why it would be, I built this computer 6 months ago. If anyone can help me please reply, Its so bad i have to hold my breath to play a game.

I'm rather inclined to think this is a hardware fault of some sort. As this is an intermittent fault do the following:

Check that all the connections inside, particularly those on signal ribbons, are firmly home. It might be best to unplug and re-plug them.

Clean the RAM edge connectors with a soft pencil eraser then pop the sticks in and out a few times to ensure no oxide remains on the sockets. It could be worth doing this for any add-on cards too.

I have had edge connector problems at times with SATA connectors on the HD, both power and signal.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

I can examine these logs for clues.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it onto your Desktop. If your default download location is not the Desktop, drag it out of it's location onto the Desktop.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...
If we have to run Farbar more than once, refer this SS.
http://i.imgur.com/yUxNw0j.gif
Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Press Scan button.
It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the Desktop.
The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt)
The logs are large, upload them using Zippy ( No account/registration needed ) or upload to a site of your choosing. Give us the links please.

Step 1: Do this & test.

Copy & Paste the text in Blue below & save it into Notepad on your Desktop & name it fixlist.txt
NOTE: It is important that Notepad is used. The fix will not work if Word or some other program is used.
NOTE: It is important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work.
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system.

Start with this.
CreateRestorePoint:
emptytemp:
closeprocesses:
Task: {9E7F1F9F-F51A-4D10-8D34-559C35B38501} - \WPD\SqmUpload_S-1-5-21-1539066312-2904831627-741974355-1001 -> No File <==== ATTENTION

S3 WinRing0_1_2_0; \??\C:\Users\Beep\AppData\Local\Temp\tmp7CA2.tmp [X]
S3 xhunter1; \??\C:\Windows\xhunter1.sys [X]

Open FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that, let the tool complete its run.
When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please Copy & Paste the contents into your reply.

Can you try to describe this buzzing sound a little more. I know it's not easy to put sounds in words but presumably it was more of a buzzing than a beeping sound.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Well, The screen goes black, 2 secs later whatever sound was in the backround IE Music or skype i hear that sound, but then it just stutters after, Like one time my friend said something and the last part of whatever he said got stretched, IDK its hard to explain like you said haha.

"Im starting to thing somethings wrong with my card"
Take it out & use the onboard connection. Then test.

Whilst the cover is off, make sure all the fans ( don't forget the power supply ) are spinning fast.
With the power off to the comp. make sure sure all fans will spin, when you, flick them.

"Dont have another comp to test it out"
Some lateral thinking is needed. Friends, family, computer club etc, etc.

Other than that, borrow one or buy one & hope that it's Ok.

Chiming in a little late but looking at your speccy list, your graphics card appears to be a Sapphire Radeon R9 390 with 8GB memory, likely the NITRO edition. How is it that you don't have a warranty? It's a fairly new card (& expensive) plus Sapphire offers a 2-yr warranty.

http://www.sapphiretech.com/support...

But my guess is your problem is caused by a weak power supply. It's not on your spec list so it's impossible to be sure. I believe your card requires two PCIe plugs to power it? That would mean you should have at least a 500W PSU with 80 Plus efficiency certification, active PFC, & a single +12v rail of at least 36A. And it should be a reputable name brand unit with a decent warranty, such as this Corsair:

I built it months ago, Why is it just giving problems?

OK. I doubt the power supply is the problem, unless you got a dud? I saw that you reset the BIOS to defaults, not necessarily a good move. You could be losing out on a lot of performance by doing that. I suggest you go back & adjust as necessary. Had you been overclocking your CPU? What speed RAM do you have?
