XP set up not finding partion

Specs: Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit, T4500 @ 2.3GHz 3GB ram
trying to make dual boot win 7 and xp with win 7 preinstalled. i made a partion by shrinking the c: volume and making another 40 GB partion formatted to NTFS. When i run XP setup it doesn't see the 40 GB partion.

If your computer is having SATA hard drive, the easiest way is, to use a slipstreamed windows xp installation cd that includes SP3 for installation.
Windows XP SP3 supports SATA drives and should install without problems.

and understand you will need to repair the win7 boot when you are done installing xp

You can also see if your BIOS gives you the option to make your SATA drive appear as an IDE drive to the XP installer until after it is installed and you have loaded SATA driver, etc.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
