Working Driver or user error?

Visiontek Radeon hd 2400 pro video card
January 5, 2010 at 17:44:21
Specs: Windows XP
After installing the drivers "sucessfully", it requires reboot of course. Then after the splash screen appears, it reboots into the menu to run repair or run windows normally. Repair just comes up with the "unable to fix" stating its a faulty driver. Running it normaly is just a continuous loop of reboots.
I have to boot into safe mode and uninstall the video card in order for it to boot normally.
I tried everything I can think of from installing in safe mode which doesn't work.

I also tried the hotfix with no luck either.

I tried the Vista drivers from Visiontek website. I tried the Windows 7 drivers from ATI.amd.com all with the same results.... Microsoft says its compatible with Windows 7 and I have read posts where others say they are using this card.

My Sapphire Radeon 9600xt 256mb was not compatible with Windows 7. This is why I bought the new card, but still no luck.

Asus K8N
Athlon 64 2800+

Did you remove all traces of your 9600xt before you tried installing the new card. Everything ATI has to be removed from the machine using add/remove programs before you can install the new software and card.

The only step I took was to uninstall the device through the device manager.
