Solved Windows7 64 bit machine won't play movie.

August 28, 2011 at 08:10:55
Specs: Windows 7 64 bit, AMD x4 2.8 Ghz /4 Gb
Plays a store bought movie ok, but not my home made DVD-RW, finalized.
Home made movie plays fine in my other DVD players connected to TV, and plays fine from other PCs running Vista, which all autoplay ok. Win7 box launches windows media player, displays a blank screen and nothing changes after that.

I'd suspect some codec or file version issue.

How did you make the dvd?

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

I created the DVD using my Sony DVD recorder. It connects to my VCR and allows me to convert a VCR tape to DVD, analog to digital recorder. (The VCR tape was not copy protected, if it was, the DVD recorder would stop recording after 1 minute.)
I just bought a 2nd DVD drive, so now I have 2 DVD burners in the Win7 box and both have the same problem playing the home made movie.
