Windows updates take too long

Why does my laptop pc take ages to download Windows updates?

For example, there are 9 updates to be downloaded but although the downloading process was started 10 minutes ago there's still 0% completed. What's happening? Many thanks in advance.

I would give it at least half an hour - maybe the internet is slow. Restarting your computer could mess things up so best not to do so unless your are absolutely sure the updates have stopped working.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Some updates are preatty big and need a while to finnish downloading. Out of those nine maybe the bigest started downloading first and thats why you dont see proggress.Especially (and Im not saying it is) if your internet is slow.

And as Derek also mentioned be sure not to shut down while an update is being installed.

Sometimes a website itself can be slow due to a lot of people using it, or the internet can be overloaded somewhere. It doesn't "necessarily" mean that your connection is slow.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

How large is the combined size of all 9 updates?
What type of Internet connection and speed do you have?
Have you downloaded updates of comparative size in the past at a much faster rate?
When was the last time you performed full system scans for malware and which program(s) do you use?
