Windows Update Keeps Checking after downgrade from Win 10

October 31, 2016 at 13:32:09
Specs: Windows 7, 250
I have Windows 7 Home Edition installed on my laptop.. As soon as I turn the computer on and go into updates, it shows an error message about Windows 10 Failed to install, and then starts checking for updates which it won't stop.. Some how 10 installed it's self onto my laptop, and I immediately restored Windows 7 back, but now I'm not able to download updates, and I've tried different methods from what came up on google, but none of them work... Help.. Thanks..

If you want a really simple and easy way to get rid of the “Get Windows 10” icon and stop your PC from downloading Windows 10, you can download a little piece of freeware called Never10, from well-respected security researcher Steve Gibson.

Download it, run it, and then click the “Disable Win10 Upgrade” button. If your system has already downloaded the Windows 10 update files, it will tell you, and you can click the “Remove Win10 Files” to delete them.

DO you have a System Restore point from before the aborted upgrade? You may need to check the 'show more restore points' box. If you do then try that, it may help.
If not then run the fix at (latest release) to fix Windows and update.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
