Solved Windows unable to complete format CD-R

Specs: Windows 7
hi guys i have a problem...i tried burning some files into the cd but it said that windows is unable to complete format...the disc said that its CDR (on the surface) but when i put it into the computer it said cdrw...what should i do... this is urgent for my thesis thanks

Also the lens may need cleaning.

"windows is unable to complete format"
With the disk in the drive, right click on the drive & select > Format.

If it still won't format I would say the label is right.

I use thumb drives myself.

thanks for your reply...i tried but it says the same thing....windows was unable to complete the format. Ive tried all solutions posted here before like using other software to do it. It worked but the software was unable to verify the disc and when i put it into the tray again to check, the autoplay asked what to do with the disc as if its the first time..and its empty.

Im hopeless right now. I tried with 5 CDs with different software and methods and none of them work.Please someone...

Are you using DVD's in a none DVD drive?
