windows seven will not boot. imput output

Specs: Linux i686
untill recently, my toshiba harman/kardon satelite laptop will begin to load windows 7 but the windows emblem never pops up and it is at a stand still. i have tried safe mode but with no help. i get an imput output error. nothing i have tried works. it runs with ubuntu from the flash drive but thats it. ubuntu says it is bad sectors but i do not know what else to do.

You need to have the hard drive tested. There are utilities to test the hard disk that you can download from the manufacturer of the drive...you have to make a bootable cd, but sounds like a good place to start.
