"No cable modem driver"? I've never heard of that error, and it doesn't really makes sense either.

It's probably best to go to the support site for your printer and download the driver directly from there. If they don't have one specifically for Windows 7, try the Vista driver, and if no Vista driver, try the XP driver.

Yeah, sounds like mistaken identity by Windows7.

There are drivers for printer cables
But since the introduction of USB and even Ethernet we don't see this issue much anymore

Since your computer must not be running USB or Ethernet, then I feel you need to update the printer

Note: I do have old printer drivers for the old cables somewhere
But, again, the USB minimum option is preferred

Some routers have a port for a printer so the printer can be networked. Haven't seen one in a while though. Don't know if that is what the OP has or not.

Printer cable drivers? Elaborate please.

The OP has already asked the same question at the beginning
Here is one obvious driver for printer cable: IBM USB - Parallel Printer Cable driver

I suspect the OP is using "Parallel" and I have answered as such above.

To my knowledge printer cables do NOT require any drivers. Printers themselves do need OS drivers.

What is needed here is some clarification from maddickey.
