Did you create the new connection using the connection wizard in My Network Places?

Yes, it could have been in the disk image.

I don't think that's the problem. Windows 7 skips a step that xp didn't. I never had to set anything up on my laptop. I'm trying to figure out what changes were made on 7 that could be causing this. Unless you're saying that creating a new connection using the connection wizard in My Network Places is now necessary with 7 when it wasn't for xp.

VPNs are not default connections. How else can one connect without creating a new connection, on any version of Windows. I must be misunderstanding you.

We have an IP address that we connect to. There is supposed to be three log ins. With 7 the second log in step is being skipped and I can go no further. This didn't happen with my XP laptop only with the new one with 7 on it.
