Windows 7 video Driver installation

Visiontek Radeon hd 2400 pro video card

Specs: Windows 7 Pro, 2800+/2g pc2700
Had to format hard drive to get drivers to install. Some type of driver is installed, but I only have 2 resolution options 800x600 or 1024x768. Both my card and monitor support resolution much higher than that. Device Manager recoginizes the card as an ATI Radeon HD 2400 pro. Another Driver recognized it as the Visiontek, but that was prior to my format.
I have directed Windows to let me install the drivers, but it continues to install whatever driver it is finding instead of the catalyst that I have downloaded, When I try to "update" I get the message that the best driver is already installed. I have tried many different drivers with the same outcome. How can I stop Windows 7 from automatically installing the drivers it see's as best fit?

Asus K8N
Athlon 64 2800+
Visiontek Radeon HD 2400 Pro AGP 512mb

I assume you are using Windows 7 32 bit. Get the drivers at the ATI link below. Do not use drivers from 3rd party sites unless the last resort.

The problem seems to be within my motherboard chipset. Seem that W7 does not support my NForce3 MB. time to upgrade it seems.
