Windows 7 taskbar, start icon will not load
I logon but no taskbar, no start icon no start menu. Cannot access programs or shut down unless manually. Tried HP Support Assistan,t all diagnostic and troubleshooting steps said things were fine. Went to HP support Forum from the HP support Assistant,( luckily it comes on on the top of my desktop screen,)(haven't disable it yet, thank God,) and I asked the question on support forum, but no answer yet. I have bee reading HP infnormation and printing some things to try, but would like to find an easier answer if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated....:-)

Backup your data if possible, then run HP Recovery to install a fresh copy of Windows as it was when it left the factory.

Thank you for your reply and your time, but I just did a factory reset and I just don't want to go through that again, that is why I have been souring HP and Microsoft and KB's and forums for help from another angle. I backed up my personal data before that factory reset 9/2/2012, and I have not beena ble to recover them from the back up DVD, even with the HP Recovery Manager Program on it it stalls and just stops. No one can give me an answer to that problem either, tried both forums. If you have any other suggestions please write to me?! If there is nothing else for me to do, then maybe when you write you'll tell me that and I will resign myself to doing the Reset from the REcovery discs that I created and just used. I wonder what I did wrong to make me have to do this all over again, so soon? I have noticed that the monitor, ( 2 yrs old) is having problems. Many times, I have to turn it off and back on to get the desk top to display or to get all of the desktop icons to display. arghh!
