Specs: Windows Vista, Intel® Core™ 2 Duo P7350 processor (2.0GHz ) with Intel® Centrino® 2 processor 6GB 64-bit
Using my disk ordered from sony after purchasing VAIO FW480J/T to upgrade vista to Windows 7,
The factory upgrade disk will not complete the upgrade. This is the 2nd time installing on the same VAIO as the first time was a success. At a loss...

Your problem could be a hardware issue. You did not elaborate on why you are reinstalling so the problem that caused you to think you needed to reinstall may be the same problem that is causing the reinstall problem.
Use Memtest to test your RAM to see if you have a bad memory stick.
Use hard drive manufacturer's drive utility to test your hard drive for problems (you may need to open the system to see what hard drive they installed on your system and go to their site for the utility).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
