windows 7, random freezing or restarting

October 27, 2011 at 21:12:46
Specs: Windows 7, AMD 2.0GHZ 1.5GBRAM
As the title says, i have a Pc running windows 7 ultimate (32bit) and lately it has started to randomly freezing or restarting.

Systems mother boards onboard video stop working sometime back, installed a Nvidia card and had no problems after that, dont know if its somehow related.

Things I've tried

-Disk chk
-RAM test

thats bout it, no new software or hardware was recently installed and i have auto updates off so nothing system wise was changed much.

Dont really have any idea where to go from here other than trying a fresh install.

I might add that sometimes the system works flawlessly, and can stay on overnight without issue and sometimes it freezes up withing 10mins of starting it.

Thanks for the help, let me know what additional info may help.

when you did the disk check did you also check for damaged sectors, takes quite a while but is worth while,
try taking out the memory sticks and running with each stick in each slot, clean with a paint brush and compressed air, also clean the connections with a soft cloth.
download speed fan and monitor your temps.
finally try another power unit if you can one from a freind, it could be a power issue.

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

Thanks for the responses, will try all of the above and report back, already tried the ram chips separate and it still occurs, so ive ruled that one out.
