If Microsoft say the Windows key is clocked then you have a pirate version of Windows.

You have two choices. Buy a legitimate version of Windows 7 or go elsewhere. This site does not assist in piracy.

Hi Stuart, As stated, base unit has worked for last 6 months and is legal HP so no pirate software installed or used. I received all updated. Hence why I asked the question. OS working and fully functional and now not so why not? Has my CD key been hacked? MS did not say "clocked" it was blocked! So again guidance sought.

If it was a key provided by HP speak to HP then.

I take it this is a brand new machine with a COA sticker on the case with the CD key written on it.

Yeah, what was the software you downloaded to 'confirm' the key and are you sure the phone number you called was actually microsoft?

Since the machine it 6 months old, contact HP support. Be ready to prove ownership to them. Once they are sure you are legit, they will be able to resolve the problem. Before you call, consider seriously, backing up all personal files to any off machine medial or location. This way if they decide you need to do a factory restore due to a root infection or other 'unrepairable' problem, you are not going to find yourself scrambling to do it last minute or losing important stuff.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

On advice got a copy of Microsoft toolkit, followed instructions and now key activated "again in my opinion" and solved the problem. Thanks for all guidance.
