Specs: Windows 7
I downloaded a new version windows 7 to c drive on my laptop, the old vista seems to have transfered to the d hard drive can i delete vista and how?

yes you can delete, however i suspect you mean you have installed win 7 on another partition, it will always show up as been on the C; partition when it boots.
i would advise you maintain a dual boot option and not delete vista for a while, JIC.
a dual boot can be very handy if you have future issues.
when it comes to deleting, simply delete the vista installation, you could format the drive, but it may have the boot info on the vista partition in which case you would have to do a repair of the win 7 installation.
make a system image of the win7 partition once you have a perfect setup, and back up all your files before you delete the vista partition.
