Solved Windows 7 not opening the complete file

August 2, 2017 at 14:33:30
Specs: Windows 7
I am having an issue with several of my Windows 7 clients not being able to open our panic button file completely. For some reason when we do the download the most important piece of the file is missing. However, when we do the download on any other Windows machine the file is complete. Any suggestions on how to remedy this issue? Please advise

It sounds like the .exe that's wrapping the .zip file is dependent on some version of .NET that isn't included with Win7. I suggest using a better .zip to .exe wrapper.

Yes indeed we need more detail in order to understand what type of file it is and what is happening. Put a snap on an upload website if necessary.

We are a computer based panic button system. Visit our website maybe our pre-recorded demo will give you a better idea of what I am talking about.

Our software is downloaded from our web-based management portal that all of our customers (clients) have access to once they sign up for our program. Each customer has their own private management portal where they input users, notification recipients, etc. The installer for our program is also located there.

The file they are downloading is an executable zip file. Their Windows computers are not downloading the complete file.

CRS Location Admin (Windows version) 1.8.6
Download the .zip file, extract it, and run "CRS Location Admin Setup.exe".
After the installation, select "Launch the program".

**The CRS Location Admin Setup.exe is the missing part. It will download the CRS Location Admin Setup.exe.config but not the correct version. This issue appears to only happen with customers operating Windows 7 on their computer.

It is not surprising we didn't know what you were talking about. Is this post spam for your product?

If not, as you appear to be providing something requiring payment then it is up to you to find out what is going wrong and ensure it works with the said Windows 7 computers.

We do not provide help to commercial organisations or test their wares.

NO, this is not a spam promotional stunt! I have a legit issue trying to open a zip file on Windows 7. Regardless of the nature of the program file. But thanks for your assistance anyway.

I have researched to figure out why Window 7 users have an issue opening a zip file completely. I was hoping someone with a broader knowledge base of this issue may have some answers. I apologize if you thought I was trying to promote my program. We have no problem with marketing on our end. However, that is not the case. Have a wonderful weekend :)

OK - Thanks.

I've been on here since mid 1990 and never run into anything similar regarding zip files. I doubt it is something anyone could help with from afar. The only way anyone here could assist would be by trying the download on various Windows 7 computers. Like many I no longer have a Win7 machine around.

Keep watching just in case anyone feels they can help but I think it is rather unlikely.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
