If you can get to system restore, then try that, it should help. If you cannot get there, then restart it into safe mode and try it there.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

tap f8 and select safe mode. When it all comes up, just rebbot the system and it should rebuild the icons.

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers

Error checking using Command Prompt
Start Tapping the F8 key when you turn the power on to get into Safe Mode.
When going into Safe Mode - Select - Safe Mode with Command Prompt -
Type - chkdsk /f
space between k /
Click y - for yes - Enter.
Requires a restart - ctrl key + alt key + delete - sign-off
Another command is - chkdsk /R /X
For both commands remember the space between k - / R - /

You should have a recovery partition on your hard drive if the system came with Windows 7. You can use this recovery partition to do a repair (not a factory restore unless you do not need any of the files on your computer). I do not know on the Acer, but you can check your online manual for the key or combination of keys to press during boot up top access this recovery partition.
If a repair does not work (it should), you will need to back up your files first and then do a factory restore back to the same condition it was when they shipped it. To access your hard drive on a machine without being able to use windows, you can use a Live Linux DVD and boot from it (not install it, run from DVD), though you may need to reset your BIOS boot order to boot from your DVD drive first. Then save to an external drive, shut down, and do the factory restore.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
