Solved Windows 7 NIC power management wont save

July 12, 2011 at 11:56:17
Specs: Windows 7
Bought a new Dell Visio and the power management settings for the NIC Card will not save. The workstation is consistantly disabling the card. After a reboot the settings default to the originial setting. I have tried creating a new power plan and using high performance. Disabling hibernation and standby modes. I check the bio settings. I have looked for updated drivers. Thanks for your assistance.

If this is new and the card came with the system then contact Dell.
If the card was purchased separately make sure you disable the onboard NIC through the BIOS and then try again. If that does not help, contact the card manufacturer's support for help.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I'd look at the nic properties. They are under hardware.

Disabling may be some other deal. Are you sure your problem is power management?

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

✔ Best Answer
You can consider to try following:

- Reinstall network adapter driver, make sure it's correct driver for Windows 7
- Go to manufacturer website to download latest network card driver, install it and test again
- Update your Windows 7 with latest patches

Hope this helps.
