windows 7 keeps crashing when i connect my hp

Specs: Windows 7, 2gb
every thing use to work fine, but know when i hook up my 1tb to watch a movie it crashes my windows 7, most times i cant even get to select a movie its as soon as i open the file path to get to 1tb hard drive, i thought there might have been a virus on the drive, but several scans showed up nothing, can you help?

have you tried transfering the movie from the 1TB drive to your PC to see if that works?

I would start with a chkdsk /f, or chkdsk /r if important files are backed up.

have you tried this drive on another machine, also win 7..that will help to decide if its the drive or your win 7.
can you see the drive in drive manager, (probably not if the drive crashes your OS)
if you can see it on another machine try to create two smaller 500gb partitions... however i suspect that the drive at some point as you copied a movie to it...best try on another machine before you prepare to sort out the drive problems.

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

i think its your problem with your ext hdd 'cause of the slow performance is you pt on this drive to another system.
