Windows 7 hang with odd video pixelations

Specs: Windows 7, AMD Dual Core 2500 MHz/3 GB
I am having trouble with my newly installed Windows 7. A short time after bootup and login when I am up and running I run into a complete system hang with odd pixelations in lines down my screen. System Requirements for Win7 are met. It does not happen in Safe Mode but I can't figure out what problem to look for. Also worth pointing out is that I have installed win7 on two different partitions (one from the online download and the other from the back-up disk I got in the mail a few days later) and both of them do this. Any help?

Is the system fully W7 supported?

Did you run memtest or memory diags? Run hard drive diags?

Latest video drivers?

Did it do it before or has it ever worked correctly?

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

strange pixelations sounds like an over heating video card.. run speedfan and check your temps, However that it doesnt happen in safe mode would also lead me think its a bad video driver.
so also update your vid drivers, from the manufacturers site.

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....
