windows 7 freezing is cpu temperature involve

Specs: Windows XP / 7, Pentium D/ 2G of 4800
I have am dual booting XP and Windows 7 and machine freezes after a few minutes in Windows 7 but no problem in XP. The motherboard in MSI 975x Platinum and Pendium D processor. The cpu and gpu temperature goes up to 50C sometimes. Any ideas?

50c shouldnt be an issue, unless your bios is set to shut down at 50c,
check your reliability and event monitors see if you have software issues at the same time as the shutdowns. as it happens in win7 and not xp it may be a a driver issue, also in control panel/system/advanced/startup and recovery uncheck automatically restart.

i hate computers!

Boot to windows 7 and run memory diagnostics.

I used to work at a large computer company. We would make computers that worked on one version of an OS. When a new OS version came out then we found some models or more commonly one small production run that would not run the new OS.

Unless your system was fully supported in Windows 7 we can't tell what might happen.

As for temps they should be similar but princecorum is correct that you need to look at bios settings.

When you installed it did any statement about an unsigned driver show up?
