Specs: Windows 7
hi. I put a avi file in to windows dvd maker and made a menu with the movie. Is it possible to move the project to a better burning program such as imgburn? If so how would i do this and would i convert the avi file to dvd before making the project with windows dvd maker?

You could use DVDflick (free) to load the .avi file into and it will make your DVD with a simple menu. But once having created a DVD using that programme Windows DVD Maker can do nothing more with it. Any DVD maker will convert an .avi to a DVD and some create better menus than others, Ashampoo for example makes a great menu but once having created the DVD... that's it!

so let me get this straight once i make a project with windows dvd maker i can't import my project in to a faster burning program? I don't really like dvd flick cause the menus are too animated and tacky lookin, i really like windows dvd maker cause the menu that you can make use real clips from the movie and you can put your own music in to them as well. If i can't do nothing with my project do you know of any programs that are as good as windows dvd maker that are free

Well, I don't think you can import your windows dvd maker project to any other dvd burning program. DVD flick is nice. Actually what I use is a shareware, though it's worth it. It lets me creat dvd menus or edit videos. Very easy to use. You know what, you could give it a try. In case you want to give it a try, it's DVD Creator what I use.
