Windows 7 disc defrag will not start

Specs: Windows 7
when I click on disc defrag, absolutely NOTHING happens?

You should get a box labeled Disk Defragmenter. You first need to analyse the partition and then, if necessary, defrag it. Are you sure that box isn't hidden behind another screen?

There are two ways of opening defragmenter. One is to right click on drive icon>Properties>tools tab>Defragment now. The other is through Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Defragmenter. Maybe the 'other' will work for you.
Also try a disk clean up first.

The problem with other defrag programs if finding the good ones and ones that will work with Windows 7.
Way back with Windows 95, there were defrag programs that worked better than the windows 95 one, but since NTFS/XP, I have stuck to the original program personally.

Besides that, if Windows defrag won't work and there is sufficient space on the partition then there may be other issues with Windows besides just defrag.
