How long has it been blank?

Checking online I found these links one, two, three, four.

The easiest check is to do a system restore to a recent point where the device manager is working.

Hopefully one of the links will provide a solution to your problems.

Google is your friend.

Thanks, I tried the 4 possible solutions but without success. I have Win 7 64bit home premium. If I upgrade and install the next level of Win 7 will that fix my windows without reinstalling all my other programs and data??

Did you try the System Restore to a date before you had the problem? It should help.
If you do an upgrade to Pro through the Anytime Upgrade, it just gives you a key that unlocks the next level up, it does not really install anything new (from my understanding).
You also can try a repair from a recovery disk, a recovery partition, or an install disk.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
