Specs: Windows 7
The screen on my laptop seems to have disappeared. The taskbar, menu, and the program icons are all missing. I've tried turning it off, but it's in hibernation mode. It's a relatively new computer, and I never had any problems like this before. What should I do?

Can you restart it or do you not want to lose files that are open?

I've tried restarting it by pressing the power button, but it goes into hibernation mode. It won't fully shut down. My files are okay, I believe. I'm just thinking that restarting my laptop would make my desktop icons and taskbar reappear.

What happens when you hold the power button down, or in worse case remove the battery?

If you have not changed the function of the power button on laptop case ( e.g. Do nothing if I press power button ), keeping it pressed for more than 4 seconds will shut the laptop down.

Now you can press the power button once more to restart the laptop.

If a menu comes up, select Normal Startup. There you go.

Nothing wrong happens except that you may lose unsaved data.
