Windows 7 Desktop icons not working

July 30, 2011 at 18:24:47
Specs: Windows 7
My computer came up with a message saying i had a trojan and I needed to restart my computer to get rid of it, so I did. When it booted up again and i tried clicking on my desktop icons it comes up with a screen saying "choose program u want to open this application in". I can access the desktop icons by right clicking on them and choosing "start" but the "open" functions and double clicking on them doesnt do anything just comes up with the same "choose program" window. How do I restore my desktop icons to what they were before i restarted my computer so they work normally?

I would do a system restore to the time before you restarted your PC. Then if that message pops up, do not restart. Instead, download, install, and update Malawarebytes Anti-Malaware, and do a full system scan, then remove anything it says to. Does the message stop pop-ing up after doing that?
