could not find item verify the item's location and try again: I can not delete a file from my desktop!

I tired restarting my computer, safe mode, Registry Mechanic, what do I have to do to remove it??

Google search came up with half ass explanations on a CMD resolution.

More info. What type of file? Where did it come from? Is it a reg. file, program file, or mystery file?

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
This site is about helping people, lets keep it that way.

It was a torrent file I downloaded of a document a long time ago and had already deleted, showed back up in the form of an unopenable form. The properties say "Type of file: File"

I am guessing you have been hacked. Torrents are very dangerous places to get stuff.

Boot to a live linux cd and see if the file shows up.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?

No, nothing is hacked I use torrents all the time. Nod32 hasn't picked up a thing, the file is corrupt or something.

"For you guys who need step by step instructions: 1. Click the start menu button, the click run in xp or click in the search field in vista. Enter "cmd". This will bring up a command window. 2. Use the cd (change directory) command followed by the directory which the file you wish to delete is in. For example, to navigate to your desktop enter cd desktop. 3. Now enter dir /x. This will display a list of all files in the directory. You will see the normal filename of each file, and in the column to the right, one that looks like FOLDERNAM~1.TXT 4. Type del and then FOLDERNAM~1 (oviously subsituting that for whatever your folder or filename is). This will delete the file Hope that helps"
