Windows 7 cannot login Hresult 0x8007ffff

Specs: Windows 7
I purchased a refurb HP Pavilion laptop with Windows 7 pre-installed from HUGE well known "O"nline retailer as a Christmas gift for my son. No documentation or discs were included. My set a password for his account. After one use, we cannot login to Windows at all. We get a Security message Hresult 0x8007ffff. We do not have/or cannot find an administrator account. Some internet sites claim this is a Windows problem. I've logged in using Safe Mode several times, but I was still asked for a password, which did not work. Now I cannot get to the Safe Mode by pressing F8. This seems to be a common problem, but I haven't found any solutions online. Any suggestions, short of sending the laptop back to retailer? We are so frustrated!

Did you even see an option to create restore disks? If you didn't, I would demand them from the vendor you bought the unit from.

There may be an option to create the restore disks when you first boot up. Look at the link below and try some of the listed sites to learn how to make the restore set. As stated above, if the option is not available then the vendor should have provided you with disks.

HP supply a recovery partition which can be accessed by repeatedly pressing F10 at startup.
this should get you up and running again.

I believe that HP only allows users to make ONE copy of restore disks. Because this computer is refurbished we don't know if that set was previously made or not. Hopefully the restore partition is intact and the OP can restore the unit and create disks.
