Windows 7 + 8 64bit Hiccups after new build.

Specs: Windows 7
I have just upgrded my pc with a new motherboard, graphics card, ram and psu. And ever since i installed windows 7 64 bit it has been hanging every minute or so. The mouse still moves but I cannot click on anything and the computer becomes completely unresponsive.

After a few seconds (sometimes more) the pc unfreezes and all the clicks I have made go through.

I have installed all of the latest drivers for my components directly from the manufacturers website.

I installed windows 8.1 64 bit to see if it would change the problem but it seems to have gotten worse.

After windows 8 I decided to try it with Linux, This runs like a charm. No hanging, no lagging, just the way It should be.

I guess this must be a problem with windows?

If any of you have any suggestions i would greatly appreciate your input.

Thanks in advance.

My specs are as follows:

Windows 8.1 64bit
8GB DDR3 1066 ram
ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 Motherboard
AMD FX 6350 6 core Processor - 3.9ghz
AMD Radeon R7 240 Graphics card with 2GB memory.

It's probably a driver issue. Make sure your chipset drivers are up to date. You can use this program to check how long DPCs are taking. As the note says, there's a problem with Win8. So either use it with Win7, or subtract 1ms from any value.

Which version of Linux? Did you actually install it or did you run it directly from a CD or DVD?

As Razor said, it's probably a driver or software problem. What else did you install besides the OS & drivers? And I've gotta ask - why would you get DDR3-1066 for an FX-series CPU? or was that I typo & you meant DDR3-1866?
