With this, you probably have a couple problems.. outdated drivers and no parallel port. If that's the case, one option could be to install a print server.. its a small piece of hardware that converts the communication from LPT (most likely) to ethernet or USB, there's a couple of them out there. Check out, they have good deals on things like that.

The Laserjet 1000 is a USB printer. But even with a print server you are still going to need a printer drivers. For a printer that old you are not going to get Windows 7 drivers, certainly not 64 bit drivers.

The best you can do is try with Windows XP drivers and see if that works. Have you tried installing the printer with Windwos 7. Windows 7 has some emulation drivers that can work with older printers.

Probably time to buy a more modern printer.

There should be some easy way to use a generic driver. I haven't tried it but one of the features of that printer is that it used a sort of open sourced format. Any similar printer driver ought to be able to print to this
I thought there would be some generic driver. There still may be one that would work but I didn't see it.

Only long ways around this seems.
Tells of a round about way.

I'd boot to a live linux cd to print stuff.

Dunno why they don't make net
