Now every other day the laptop crashes. Once I reset to factory settings, I uninstall Norton and load Avira (Paid subscription). I remove third party softward I dont want i.e (best buy programs). I make sure I get all windows updates, and Viao updates, make sure all my drivers are up to date. My system will still crash and shut down. Am I missing something? please help!!!!! Monitor your internal temperatures with Speedfan, if you are hot, then use a can of compressed air blown into each vent to remove dust, and monitor again. Open screw covered ports if needed and blow air into them also as needed to clean it out.

You could have a bad memory stick (RAM), the best way to be sure is to run Memtest86 via a bootable CD you burn from ISO image you download. If you get any errors, stop the test and retest with one stick of memory at a time to verify. Replace as needed (no errors are acceptable).

If your temperature and your memory test good, then run hard drive test utility downloaded from hard drive mfg's website (also via bootable CD). Seagate reports that their utility will work on all internal hard drives, so you can skip opening it to read the brand if you like. Minor errors it may actually be able to fix, but more serious ones will need replacing of the drive.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Can you give us the error codes that appear when your computer crashes ? You may have a look in Event Viewer if you cannot see them when the crash occurs.
