Why is browsing history not recording all websites visited by my computer?

have you used a cleanup utility which deletes your internet history?
Also, you didn't tell us which web browser you are referring to.

I think it's IE9, there are gaps in the times and I know that some of the sites i've been to are not there. we use bing mostly but also google and firefox. My son was supposed to do his homework lastnight and he said he couldn't find the right site but I can't tell where he looked because it isn't there and the times and sites he went to are not recorded in view files. actually this site I am on now was not recorded this morning. I'm not using anykind of cleanup utility that I know of.

Check that the "In Private Browsing" is not turned on. If it was turned on purposely or accidentally, it does not record until it is turned off. Someone may be visiting sites they do not want remembered and forgot to turn it off (I won't speculate on what sites).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I have disabled in private browsing on this computer as my children use it mostly.
